Pete Bull
Psychotherapist • Mental Health Nurse • Community Organiser
I’m a UKCP-accredited existential psychotherapist and NMC-registered mental health nurse, based in Lewes and working within the National Autism & ADHD Psychology Service (NAAAPS) at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.
My work focuses on autism, ADHD, and identity — helping people understand themselves beyond the language of diagnosis. I’ve worked in the NHS for over nineteen years, across community, acute, and neurodevelopmental services, and continue to offer independent psychotherapy for adults and young people, both in person and online.
I trained in Existential Psychotherapy at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling, and later completed a PGDip in Psychological Therapies (CBT) at Canterbury Christ Church University. My academic grounding includes BSc Mental Health Nursing and PGDip Psychology from the University of Bradford, and a BA (Hons) Combined Studies from London Metropolitan University.
I co-edited Critical Mental Health Nursing: Observations from the Inside (PCCS Books, 2018), a collection exploring how care, ethics, and power move through mental health systems. My ongoing research and writing explore neurodivergent-affirming therapy, eco-therapy, and how communities can hold people — and difference — more kindly.
Outside the consulting room, I’m active in community football as a founder and organiser with Lewes FC, building inclusive, volunteer-led structures that support wellbeing, belonging, and lifelong participation.
I believe that care should be built into systems, not left to luck — and that therapy, like good community work, is ultimately about creating spaces where people can belong without shrinking.
